AI Doesn’t Have a Heartbeat: Char Murphy Challenges the Future of Storytelling on Creative Entrepreneur Podcast
NORTH LITTLE ROCK, AR, UNITED STATES, September 11, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — AI Can Tell Your Story, But It Doesn’t Have a Heartbeat: North Little Rock Author Char Murphy Challenges AI on Creative Entrepreneur Podcast
Char Murphy challenges AI and asks whether technology can truly tell our stories when it has never lived, loved, lost or healed.
Artificial intelligence can write a book, build a brand, create content and even imitate the way a person speaks. But North Little Rock author and Mission Hope founder Char Murphy believes there is one thing AI cannot replicate: a heartbeat.
Murphy recently joined The Creative Entrepreneur Podcast, Apple’s #1 Business News Podcast, with hosts Julie Lokun and Dominick Domasky for a conversation that challenges the growing role of artificial intelligence in storytelling and asks a bigger question: As AI-generated content floods books, social media and nearly every corner of the internet, could authentic human storytelling become more important than ever?
“If it’s not the real person telling the story, then where’s the legitimacy behind it?” Murphy asks during the episode.
A retired attorney, motivational speaker and eight-time #1 bestselling author, Murphy has survived breast cancer four times, faced near-blindness and rebuilt her identity after losing the law career that had defined much of her life. Those experiences shaped her belief that storytelling is about much more than producing words on a page. For Murphy, the process of telling your own story can be part of healing.
That belief is at the heart of The Mission Hope Movement Inc – a 501(c)(3), and Mission Hope – Murphy’s anthology series, a storytelling movement built around authentic stories of resilience, faith, adversity, healing and hope.
During the episode, Murphy discusses how she identifies manuscripts that appear heavily AI-generated, including repetitive rhythms, unnatural cadence and writing that may sound polished but lacks the personality and emotion of the person supposedly telling the story. Murphy is not against AI. She sees value in using the technology for brainstorming, outlining, branding, marketing and developing ideas. Her challenge is about knowing where the tool should stop and the human being should begin.
“Why let a computer tell your story for you?” Murphy asks.
“If an AI is writing your story, then it’s not gonna heal you. It’s not gonna heal anybody else really, because that legitimacy is not coming through.”
The conversation also takes listeners through Murphy’s own journey of surviving cancer four times, losing the career she had worked to build and finding a new mission through helping others share their experiences.
Her advice to the person who knows there is a book, podcast or story inside them but continues waiting for the right time is simple: “Just start writing.”
The episode concludes by putting AI directly to the test. The hosts ask artificial intelligence to generate a “Char Murphy” outro and compare the computer-generated version with the real woman listeners have just spent the episode getting to know.
AI can imitate words and cadence. Murphy’s challenge is whether it can ever reproduce the life, pain, joy, experience and heartbeat behind them.
