Greenawalt Leads the COA Patient Advocacy Network and Champion Access to Community Cancer Care

WASHINGTON, DC, UNITED STATES, October 13, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — The Community Oncology Alliance (COA) announced today that Alexandra “Alex” Greenawalt, DBA, has joined the organization as Director of Patient Advocacy. Greenawalt leads the COA Patient Advocacy Network (CPAN), providing the tools and opportunities that patients, survivors, and caregivers need to be effective advocates for access to high-quality, affordable cancer care.

In her new role, Greenawalt works with CPAN advocates and COA members to elevate the experiences of patients and caregivers, strengthen grassroots engagement, and help ensure that patient perspectives inform public policy discussions affecting community cancer care.

“Alex understands that effective patient advocacy begins with listening to patients and building strong connections among the people and organizations that support them,” said Nicolas Ferreyros, managing director of COA. “Her experience in community health, nonprofit leadership, and independent oncology will help CPAN expand its reach and continue being a clear, credible voice for patients with cancer and their families.”

Previously, Greenawalt served as Executive Director of Pathways Community Center, a nonprofit hub of 20 health and human service providers. She strengthened partnerships and communication among participating organizations, helping them operate as a coordinated care network and advancing systems-level solutions to improve the patient journey and overall community health. Greenawalt also consulted for an independent oncology practice and researched sustainable funding for financial navigation services, giving her direct insight into the financial and operational barriers that can affect a patient’s ability to access cancer care.

“Patients and caregivers bring essential knowledge to every conversation about cancer care,” Greenawalt said. “I am honored to join COA and work alongside CPAN advocates to share their experiences, strengthen their voices, and protect access to high-quality care in the communities where patients live.”

Greenawalt holds a Doctor of Business Administration in Healthcare Leadership and Management from California Intercontinental University, an MBA in Healthcare Management from Western Governors University, and a bachelor’s degree in public health from the College of Charleston.
